Campaign Story

* Typical cost of capstone projects (including registrations, travel and supplies) is about $1200.
* I am trying to raise $600 as family and school will cover the rest.

Goals for My Fundraiser:

Supporting my capstone project

*** I plan to pursue the project though participation in TSA activities like competitions and community service. ***

The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) that helps students explore STEM through hands-on projects, competitions, and leadership opportunities.

What is ‘Creative Eco-Journalism Initiative’

A multimedia journalism project focusing on social and climate issues, merging investigative research with creative storytelling and artistic expression.

Components:

Plan and execute in-depth environmental research

Write feature articles

Produce digital content (videos

Podcasts)

Organize community interviews

Lead workshops on environmental advocacy.

Why I am pursuing this project (My why)

  1. I am a ‘Facilitator’ personality type person with strong ‘innovator’ business potential.
  2. I’m super passionate about being an environmental advocate, exploring history, food, and art. I’m really good at discussing social and climate issues as an environmental journalist. So, I’ve decided to use my creativity and persistence to work on a project that promotes learning about the environment, hoping it’ll help build a more peaceful and sustainable world..

My plan of action: Competitions and Activities

Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) to join:

TSA – Technology Student Association focuses on technological innovation and project management, offering opportunities to integrate creative tech solutions into environmental projects.

FBLA – Future Business Leaders of America develops business leadership and planning skills, complementing the project’s emphasis on strategic communication and economic impact.

Competitions

TSA – Audio Podcasting

This introductory competition allows the student to develop engaging audio storytelling skills that are essential for eco-journalism by blending creative narrative with technical audio production.

TSA – STEM Mass Media

This introductory competition encourages digital journalism and multimedia presentation, providing an ideal platform for exploring eco-journalism through video production and storytelling.

FBLA – Business Communication

This introductory competition builds foundational skills in professional communication which are key for pitching and marketing the Creative Eco-Journalism Initiative.

FBLA – Business Plan

This advanced competition encourages strategic planning and business proposal development—essential for scaling the initiative into a sustainable project.

Community Service:

Environmental Storytelling Workshop

Why it fits: This activity connects the skills gained from competitions to community engagement by allowing students to directly interact with local residents and gather authentic environmental narratives in zip code 30341.

Implementation: Organize workshop sessions with local experts, community leaders, and environmental advocates; conduct storytelling sessions, interviews, and collaborative project creation to showcase local eco issues.

Skills Development: Community engagement, narrative development, project management, event coordination
